Macau II

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Besides the Dragon’s Treasure here are some more things that I found interesting in Macau.

I know it’s a little late, but happy holidays from the pandas.

St. Paul’s Ruins (Church of Mater Dei)

This site was amazing to me because it is in the middle of all these shopping centers yet you stand in awe of the site. It feels just like in the movies when looking at it because your mind focuses on the ruins and all sound around fades out.

This looks just like any regular horse head statue, but this piece is the “Bronze Horse Head of Haiyantang in The Summer Palace”. This set a world record for any Chinese Qing sculpture being purchased at $8.9 million US currency.

Looks just like Vegas.

Macau

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

While on my vacation in Hong Kong I stopped by the lovely Macao. This is a major tourist attraction for the neighboring Asian countries and is considered their version of Las Vegas. I can say that it compares to the quality of Vegas, but not the amount of hotels that it has. While stopping by there is a lot to do besides gambling, but I did come up in roulette. There is a lot to see including old temples, churches, and a must to stop by the fisherman’s wharf. I’ll post pics later, but thought I would show you a little something from the City of Dreams Macao resort. I saw the amazingly presented slightly repetitive “Dragon’s Treasure Show”. The show is displayed in a circular dome that I would say holds the max of 300 people maybe more and is a nicely presented, but the problem is each dragon they show does the same thing. The dragon comes to life grabs the pearl of wisdom and brings you to his world. It was cool the first two times, but by the fifth dragon I was no longer surprised. Watching this video will save you money so you don’t have to visit the City of Dreams for this.

Thank me later

Happy New Year

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Happy New Year everybody. Hope everyone made their resolutions realistic this year. Got back from a lovely day of bumping shoulders non stop using the subway system which I have to say is really clean. Stopped by Mong Kok literally pronounced “Mong *ock”. Worst part of the new year was I thought I lost my Iphone in a mall and the best part was finding it in my satchel. Yes a satchel.

On some music news Jay Z just released his newest video “On to the Next One” which is the direction I feel hip hop artists should use for their videos. Along the lines of having things being creative and interesting to watch not the usual “lets copy a mafia movie and try to act like the main guys with our song in the background” or “lets walk in the club in slow motion, then have different shots of girls dancing, and a close up of exhaling smoke”.

Check it out and if it gets taken down google this bad boy.

Ocean Park

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Just got in Hong Kong and boy am I tired. Sitting on a plane for a good 15 hours without getting any sleep is not a good mix. Well after arriving and getting some rest I started my day off by visiting the Chinese version of Sea World. To me the best feature of this park is the pandas. I got to see the red panda or “fire fox” which shares features of a bear and raccoon.

Red Panda

Just like the panda this is what I’ll be doing the rest of the trip.

I love it even half way around the world someone put up a quote from “Tropic Thunder”

Seeing the pandas was probably the best part of the park because the rides here, although the scenery was nice on the roller coaster pretty much doesn’t compare to Disneyland/ Six Flags standard.

Upular!

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

This is a random post, but I had to share it. I used to watch anime a lot when I was a kid, and I remember getting AMV(animated music videos) off of napster and irc way before kazaa, limewire, and the masses got a hold of p2p file sharing. Kids were editing anime footage to music and often matched animation and audio timing to give a fun effect. This is slightly different, in that they used the actual audio from the movie. Its just a happy project that fits the good holiday mood that I’m in.

My favorite parts are at 0:40 and 1:30

Orisue Pop Up Shop

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

We headed up to Venice tonight for a Pop Up Shop Party for Orisue. I know what you’re thinking, party on a Tuesday night? Well what can I say we’re sorta like a big deal plus it’s always good to see some familiar faces. My favorite part of tonight was taking pictures and having people ruin it by jumping in the picture. I don’t understand why people do this I’m going to delete it anyways. To me this is kind of like when people add you for no reason on facebook/myspace and then I get to click IGNORE. Back to the real reason why I was there, oh yeah the event went well. It was crowded, good music, and free liquor what more can a guy ask for.

Met an interesting character randomly through just walking around aimlessly taking pictures. This is Matt from RobnSteel clothing. It was nice meeting you and your crew.

For some reason these heads reminded me of T-1000 wearing headphones. If you don’t know who T-1000 is google it.

The Matrix

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Going to lunch today with the design team is always a fun trip. There’s always at least one hot girl that we see, something weird, and just watching people trip. Well today as we were eating I noticed a family in their van getting a little too close to the sidewalk and as the mom got out her foot got caught and she looked around to see if anyone saw. Don’t worry we saw it. And the most awkward thing today was “The Matrix” pay phone.

Brian was attempting to use it, but couldn’t get to the other side. Oh well maybe next time.

Also a stain that looked like a smiley face.
