Vincent: Allow me to introduce myself. I’ve been part of the design team over at triumvir for a good 2 and a half years. Started out as an intern packing orders, sweeping floors, and cleaning restrooms. I guess the best way to sum it up is that I was the groundskeeper willy. Through hard work I began helping out the design team and slowly but surely I began my journey as a designer. They gave me the opportunity to work on cakedout and I took it. The graphics are humorous and playful so its easy for me to be passionate about it. In my mind, streetwear is following the same path as hip hop. It was about having fun, then went gangsta, to new york, to shiny suits, to how tough you can be. At the end of the day it should be fun, they’re just clothes. For my influences on graphics I like to bring my musical tastes and humor into it.

Mikey: Everyone asks me how I got this job, and I think luck had something to do with it. Last spring I finished all my courses, but needed to complete a semester’s internship to get my bachelors. I called up to twenty companies in California and New York hoping someone would take interest. Long story short, I hopped on a plane from Rhode Island to California to meet the triumvir team. I pulled up to the office and I thought I was going to shit myself. Somehow I made it inside, and proceeded on to the 2-hour interview process which included a series of impossible questions and voice-cracked answers. They even questioned my friend that gave me a ride! I was assigned to design cakedout graphics and to come back in two weeks. Two weeks later I had my own desk in the design office. I’ve been designing here for about half a year now. The hardest part of the job is switching our mindset to design for triumvir and cakedout. A good way to describe our position is that we have more of an assisting job with triumvir, as opposed to the more directional freedom we have with cakedout.

Just the other week we had a photoshoot with myself and Cashis. He’s a new artist from Shady Records out of Orange County. To check out more images from the shoot, check out the lookbook page.
