Man Vs Food

Monday, August 31st, 2009

This past weekend I stopped by the famous Philippe’s. I stumbled across this restaurant from watching the show Man Vs. Food on the travel channel. (For those that are impatient fast forward the video to the 1:58 mark).

On the way there I saw a cloud that looked like a stegosaurus.

After driving on an empty stomach finally arriving to Philippe’s. (Cue in Holy music)

The crowd looked exactly the same as the show, place was packed. The wait is a minimum of 15 minutes, but as soon as you order they make the sandwich in front of you. As I was waiting in line each time I inched closer my mouth watered more.

As I soon as I got my sandwich I was digging in. Make sure to get the roast beef double dipped with swiss cheese.

Overall I would give the place 7 out of 10. The food is good, but I would say if you’re in LA then stop by don’t make a trip out of it. Roast beef sandwich > lamb sandwich.

Also beware of the hot mustard use it sparingly.

Caption Contest Winner

“Dude She’s got a quato”

Congrats to Brian Kwon from San Francisco California for having the winning caption. We chose this caption because not only was it funny, but he referenced one of my favorite movies “Total Recall”. For those that haven’t seen it it is one of Arnold’s best movies.

Here’s a Quato for those that haven’t seen it.

City of Angels

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

The design team took an early morning trip to LA to begin planning out our 2010 collection. Luckily we didn’t hit any traffic and we were early to all our appointments. Since we got to LA early we decided to get breakfast at Farmerboys. It started out good, but as I’m typing up this post it has not treated my stomach well. I had the breakfast burrito that was tasty, but as I won the battle the burrito won the war.

I should have know something was up when our order number was 13.

For those that have to deal with traffic on a daily basis this man shares the same problems. I found this off of Lerche’s Blog

I know what everyone’s thinking and I don’t mean that type of kush. This is the gift to get your girlfriend/significant other for any special occasion.

Today was a good day

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Lately I’ve been looking around at sneaker shops and online blogs and nothing has been exciting me lately. I’m sure everyone is doing the same we all have a list of bookmarks of blogs and we skim through until something catches our eye. Its been everywhere, but for those that haven’t seen it this is an awesome video promoting the P Rod III.

The shoe is very clean in person.

Release date this Saturday.

The Laboratory

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

My friend Cassie works for this brand you may have heard of called Oakley. She gave me a tour and boy howdy was I blown away at their headquarters. As you approach the building you feel as you are walking into Area 51.

As soon as you walk in you will notice these futuristic electric chairs. In reality they are just really cool ejector seats for jets.

Normal meeting rooms are usually in a room. Not for Oakley they have an auditorium.

Thanks again Cassie for the tour. Cakedout will have a facility like this one day … one day.

We stopped by Agenda Tradeshow over in Huntington Beach.

We first met up Dennis and Don (Karmaloop) before walking the show.

Alex and Chris (IMKing) were going over the upcoming dunkxchange event that they are part of. We shall be there.

The event was short and sweet with a great view.

Hot Hot Hot

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

This past Saturday we were part of the Orisue Beer Pong Extravaganza. There was the perfect equation for a good event, beer+food+music+beer pong+more beer=a good time.
Iron Chef Montiel was cooking up a storm.

It is definitely summer time with the heat.
Jason and David were feeling it.

Nap time.

The fly couldn’t stand the heat either because he had to find somewhere to rest.

This is what all the brands were after the glorious beer pong trophy.

Cakedout entered determined.

The pressure started building up.

Team Osiris ended up taking us out, but drinking beer at the end it felt like we were all winners.
Jason and Thomas(FRSH) talking about strategies and how to win the next time around.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Remembering Hawaii

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Lately it has been really hectic at work going back and forth with Cakedout and Triumvir. I keep thinking about the vacation I had a couple of weeks ago in Hawaii in order to keep sane. One of the memorable moments in Hawaii was going ATV riding at Kualoa Ranch in Oahu. This is the same area where they filmed Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, and Pearl Harbor.

Look familiar to anyone? (Cue in the Jurassic Park theme song)

They also had some bacon lying on the ground.

A food highlight was going to the all you can eat sushi restaurant Hakone. They made sushi fresh to order and there was unlimited amounts of toro (it is the filet mignon of tuna) until the group I was with kept ordering it.

I also happened to find Russell from the movie “UP” working in Hawaii. It seems that he is a chef at Nobu in Parc Hotel.

Man he sure hasn’t changed to much from the movie.
