I need my foot back.

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Sorry for the extreme hiatus. I literally wake up, go to work and then waddle home with this stupid injured foot, thus no content for the blog. Meanwhile all I can do is hate this stupid injury while I wish I could dance again.

Especially after watching this video of last year’s R16 competition in Korea. Its a few months old but I guess theres more reason to post it than just the dancing. Its shot well, the music choice is excellent, and the editing is key. I’m inspired on all levels…

I Need a Safer Hobby

Monday, March 8th, 2010

So after years of dancing, I finally paid the price. Never had an injury until this past weekend. My crew ended up winning the whole competition, but I had to sit out after the first round due to torn ligaments in my foot. Congratulations Deuces Wild crew, we did it… or I guess I should say you guys did it and I was there…

This splint and these crutches are not a good look.

Lazy Mondays

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Mondays are always a little hectic around the office. From the creative team grinding away at the designs to the marketing team getting to the piled up e-mails from the past weekend, everyone can always afford to take a five-minute breather to catch their breath. We thought it would be fitting to hop on Youtube and pull a few chill songs from the 90’s considering that it’s been a huge inspiration for our collections. Shut your eyes, grab your drink of choice (we suggest a 40 for the mood if you’re of age,) and just kick it to these beats.

Souls of Mischief- 93 ‘till Infinity

Nas- Take it in Blood

Lil’ Troy- Wanna be a Balla

Pete Rock & CL Smooth- Carmel City

A Tribe Called Quest- The Hop

Black Star- Thieves in the Night

Funkdoobiest- Rock On

Mos Def Ecstatic Moments

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Last week I stopped by HVW8 Art & Design Gallery photo exhibition entitled Mos Def: Ecstatic Moments. It showcased images taken by photographer and filmmaker Cognito capturing the past two years Mos Def was creating his LP “The Ecstatic”. The show goes on until the February 14th so for those that can’t make it to LA check out this video.

The Oinkster

Monday, February 8th, 2010

This past weekend I stopped by The Oinkster in Eagle Rock. I heard about this place through one of my favorite shows on food network “Diners, Drive ins, and Dives”. They are known for their pastrami sandwich you can see more from the video below. This place is pretty good if you don’t mind waiting in line, I suggest going for the chicken salad sandwich and pastrami. The pulled pork was ok nothing to rave about.

The wait looks worse than it really is.

Perfectly fried and worth a try.

Under the Influence

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Under the Influence: Masters of the Universe Tribute Art Show was an exhibition displayed at the 1988 Gallery in Los Angeles, CA. Unfortunately if you couldn’t make the show it is not being displayed anymore, but if you want to see more pictures click here. I stopped by on the last day and was star struck when I laid my eyes on the life size replica of Castle Gray Skull.

The attention to detail can be seen throughout the piece down to the chains.

There were a lot of cool pieces at the show, the following couple were some of my favorites.

After the exhibition we stopped by next door into this comic book shop. Besides the usual plethora of comics they had collectible vinyl figures, comic book sneakers, and some new novelty dc toys. They look as if someone mashed Batman with a mallot.

We also saw a real life smurf on the street. They do exist.

Mikey’s Birthday

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Well Mikey’s birthday just passed and we celebrated the best way with everyone getting together eating, drinking, watching movies, and playing some good old tekken 6. It was a Korean style for the buffet setup. Two different types of meat, side veggie dishes, some Korean sushi, and for a little bit of a mix we had some Persian rice. Although Kevin and Brandon won’t admit it I beat both of them in a row adding up to a 5 fight win streak in Tekken.

While eating we were watching one of the greatest Van Damme movies of all time “Bloodsport”. Chong Li even celebrated with us.

Then mix in a little liquor which was the cause for the beginning of the end. After this beer cans, wine, and some hard liquor Oh My!

Happy Birthday Mikey

DJ Flict - House Of Blues Anaheim Recap

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

There really isn’t much to say except that DJ Flict and The Return of the Dream Team are definitely a musical act you have to look out for. I’ll let the picture’s speak for themselves. Their first show and they’re already doing big things.

Oh… and here’s a music video from one of the opening acts. I personally hate Lady Gaga but this is hilarious!
