Burning the Midnight Oil

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Today was a long and eventful work day. The thing that people don’t expect to hear when you work in the fashion/streetwear industry is that you’re still working while others are eating dinner. It’s not your typical 9-5, but ranges more on what needs to get done and by when. I stayed a little bit later to learn more on the product shot aspect from Brian (Triumvir) and Lerche (Triumvir). We all didn’t get back at the normal work time as you can see pictured below, but the main difference when we’re bouncing back and forth from our duties for Triumvir/Cakedout is that we have passion for it. I’m not constantly staring at the clock to see when I can get out, but more on what I can finish compared to my old jobs when I’m waiting for that big hand to hit twelve so I can get the hell out of there.

Good morning, and in case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night.

Just for Kicks

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

My dive into sneakers, or should I say my addiction was a nice roller coaster ride (especially for my wallet). If it wasn’t for my interest in sneakers, I probably wouldn’t be doing what I am today, so it’s a love/hate relationship. I first stumbled upon sneakers after going to hip hop sites and I was fascinated how it blended different cultures (hip hop/ punk mixed with surf/skate and had a statement) into one group. It was amazing to me because I was seeing graphics and garments done in a different manner compared to what was out at the time. I think the best part of this culture (sneakers/streetwear) is similar to how the documentary “Just for Kicks” described it as a culture that makes you feel unique in a world that expects you to be like everyone else. My addiction to the sneaker culture isn’t as bad as it used to be, but every time I come home I am constantly reminded not to over indulge. The worst part is that this is just one wall, there are three more and this isn’t as bad as some of the other addicts out there. You know who you guys are.

Cakedout Ink

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Besides the many talents of our fellow designer Mikey, he also knows how to tattoo. Today he did a freehand tattoo on our sales rep Jason’s back. The detailing and shading looks like it hurt a lot.

I think it’s about time everyone gets a smiley face.

Spiders pt. 2

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Brian’s house aka thug mansion has an insane amount of spiders for some odd reason. His puppy likes to eat everything in sight, so we have to keep the spider count in check. Hey, at least we don’t just kill them.

#140conf - 140 Characters Conference

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Last week Lerche and I drove up to LA to see Richard speak on a panel at the 140 Characters Conference at the Kodak Theatre. I would be sweating bricks if I had to sit up there.

It’s like we were at the academy awards.

The panel consisted of Richard(Triumvir), 2 Speakers from PacSun, and the owner of the famous Kogi truck that runs around the area creating twitter madness.

Transformers

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Wow it had been so busy lately I forgot that halloween was tomorrow. Hooray for all the sexy/naughty outfits worn by the ladies. Transformers costumes usually look tacky for halloween right? It’s always some kid with an optimus prime mask and robot print that he’s wearing. Not this guy, he went all out for his bumblebee.

Urbanlook.com

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I still have no idea what this photoshoot was for, Brian won’t tell me. But, what I do know is that Urbanlook.com from China asked us to wear some Nike Sportswear AW77 gear and pose for some pictures.

Thanks Urbanlook.com!
